Naturopathic medical students attend a four-year, post graduate-level accredited Naturopathic medical school. The curriculum covers Biomedical Sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Biochemistry, immunology and Pharmacology), Naturopathic Sciences (Clinical Nutrition, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Botanical Medicine, Physical Medicine, Lifestyle and Preventative Counseling) and Clinical Education (Differential Diagnosis, Laboratory Diagnosis, Integrative Clinical Studies, Pediatrics, Women's Health, Men's Health and Primary Care). Research and Clinical Rounds are completed in the final year, after which students must pass the second North American and Provincial Board Examinations to obtain a license to practice medicine.
The training of a Naturopathic Doctor develops unique skills in bridging conventional and natural medicine, providing patients with knowledgeable advocates who can help them make informed choices about their health.
